The Comical Cut Card Prediction

EFFECT: An audience member is asked to assist you. A strip of paper is shown to have many playing cards listed on it. An envelope is shown to contain a single playing card. You show this card - your prediction - to the audience, but not to your audience assistant.
You explain that the spectator will have an opportunity to choose the name of ANY playing card listed. You hold the TOP of the paper, and using a pair of scissors, you demonstrate that you will run the open blades up and down the paper, allowing the spectator to say “Stop!” at any point. At the moment the spectators says “Stop”, you will make a single cut – the card name printed below the spot you cut will signify their free choice.
When the cut is made, the remainder of the paper will fall to the floor. Make a point of saying that you want this to be as fair as possible, you state that you “do not want to touch the paper”, requesting that they pick up the paper. Ask them to announce their choice of card - the name below the cut. When their choice is announced, you act surprised! Of course the audience will laugh, they know that is NOT the name of your “Prediction Card” in the envelope! However, when you pull out the card from the envelope and turn it over, the card has magically changed to perfectly match the name of the card chosen on the cut of paper!
